About. The Yakima Ice Rink is ran by volunteers of the Yakima Amateur Hockey Association (YAHA)
The Yakima Amateur Hockey Association is a non-profit organization in charge of the operation of Yakima Ice Rink. The association is made up of volunteers who serve on a board which governs the skating community here in Yakima,WA. Board meetings are held once a month on the first Monday of the month and are open to the general public. The mission of YAHA is to grow the skating community from the youth level on up providing a strong foundation and future for ice sports in the Yakima area. YAHA is also charged with maintaining and providing a well run, safe environment for recreational enthusiasts, figure skaters, and players alike. This also entails actively pursuing and researching avenues for development of a new facility for the Yakima Valley. |
Established in 1967The Yakima Ice Rink has been around since 1967. Some of the coaches we have today started out as hockey players back when they were in elementary school. Now that they have kids of their own, their kids are playing hockey and creating lifelong friendships just as they did when they were kids. The Yakima Ice Rink is truly a forgotten gem. There are some residents in the community that aren't aware that Yakima even has an ice rink.

Our GoalOur goal is to provide the kids of Yakima an outlet where they can come and hang out and be a part of something they enjoy. We offer a fun and friendly environment where kids can be kids and families come together to provide support for our entire hockey family.

Heather Neptune
Registrar, Safe Sport Coordinator There's a reason we couldn't get a picture of Heather without a seat belt on....lol
It's because she's a busy mom with a husband and 2 kids. She has her own jewelry and cosmetics business and works full time at Orthopedic Northwest. Depending on the season, she's always on the run driving to or picking up her kids from baseball, football, or hockey practice. Her husband is retired from the US Army but currently works as a civilian at the Yakima Training Center. |
Dusty Morrill
Building Maintenance Director Have you ever heard of a jack of all trades, master of none? Well, Dusty is our jack of all trades master of all! Without Dusty's talent and skills the Ice Rink wouldn't be standing.
He is also one of our Zamboni drivers. He says he's ready to retire from Zamboni driving so I heard he's giving free Zamboni driving lessons to anyone who wants to learn. When he's not at the rink tinkering around, building, or fixing something that broke you can usually find him boating, or hanging out with his beautiful wife and 3 kids. He also works full time at Perry Tech as a Mechanics Instructor. |
Yvette Meredith-Cubero
Secretary, Website Manager Yvette is a Native of Florida but she's lived here in Yakima for 7 years now. It wasn't until a few years ago when she discovered that her son had a love for the game of hockey. She loves being involved with the families at the rink and watching her son play hockey. She's a single mom with 3 adult children in their 30's on their own and 1 still at home who is just starting high school. When she's not at the rink during Hockey season she's busy with her son and 3 foster son's. She also works full time as a Systems Analyst at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.
